The state of Louisiana regulates materials used to decrease the soil acidity during agricultural production sold or offered for sale in Louisiana.

Requirements
You must register agricultural lime before selling it in the state of Louisiana. Registration must be received prior to March 31st and is $15.00. A $50.00 late fee must be included for registration applications sent after the March 31st deadline. You must submit quarterly tonnage reports and pay an inspection fee of $0.10 per ton each quarter.
In accordance with Louisiana Agricultural Lime Law R.S. 3:1430.1 et seq., and the Rules and Regulations of the Louisiana Administrative Code Title 7; Part XIX Section 101: All companies that manufacture agricultural liming material sold, offered for sale, or distributed in this state register as a manufacturer and file quarterly tonnage reports with the Louisiana Agricultural Chemistry and Seed Commission to the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry’s Agricultural Chemistry Division.
Each package of agricultural liming materials sold, offered for sale, or distributed in this state shall contain a conspicuous and legible label attached to the package. If the materials are sold in bulk form, a copy of the label shall be attached to the invoice, which is delivered to the person purchasing the materials.
Registration
Please register through the mail by printing out and submitting the form below. The fee for registration is $15.00 per year. A $50.00 late fee must be included for registration applications sent after the March 31st deadline.
No agricultural liming material shall be sold, offered for sale, or distributed in this state unless the material is registered with the commission. Each manufacturer of an agricultural liming material sold, offered for sale, or distributed in this state shall be responsible for registering the material.
Applications for registration shall be submitted to the commission on or before the first day of April each year. Each application shall be accompanied by the appropriate fee, a copy of the label for the material, and such other information as the commission by rule may require.
If the application is approved, the registration shall be issued on or before the first day of July of the year in which the application was received. Each registration shall be valid for one year, beginning on the first day of July of the year in which the registration was issued and ending on the last day of June of the following year.
Requirements
All registered agricultural liming manufacturers must submit timely and accurate quarterly tonnage reports even if there were no sales during a quarter.
The quarterly inspection fee is $0.10 per ton; the minimum inspection fee is $10 per quarter. The inspection fee must be paid to LDAF on all agricultural liming material sold and must be submitted with the quarterly tonnage reports. The inspection fee is only required to be paid once on each lot of agricultural liming material sold in Louisiana. Make checks payable to the Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry (LDAF). The agricultural liming material program does not currently have the option to pay online through USAPlants. Please remit payment via check to the address on the tonnage reporting form.
LA R.S. 3:1430.7(A) states quarterly reports shall be submitted on or before the thirtieth day after the last day of each quarter. The quarters shall end on the last day of September, December, March, and June.

All registered guarantors are required to submit quarterly tonnage reports for all four quarters each year, even if nothing was sold during a quarter.
Each package of agricultural liming materials sold, offered for sale, or distributed in this state shall contain a conspicuous and legible label attached to the package. If the materials are sold in bulk form, a copy of the label shall be attached to the invoice, which is delivered to the person purchasing the materials. The label shall contain the following information:
(1) The name and the address of the principal office of the manufacturer.
(2) The brand name of the material.
(3) The type of the material.
(4) If the material is dolomitic limestone, the content of elemental magnesium.
(5) If the material is ground shells, the name of the mollusk from which the shells were obtained.
(6) The net weight of the material in the package.
(7) Such other information as the commission by rule may require.
