Learn best practices and get resources for sustainable forest management

If you are one of the over 148,000 woodland owners in Louisiana, the Office of Forestry is here to help. We aim for improved forest practices on small timber tracts throughout the state, generally through personal, individual assistance.

Our foresters are in the field providing forest owners with advice and action plans. We’ll give you advice on;

  • Present and future courses of action, including which seedlings to plant.

  • Insect and disease problems

  • Federal and state cost-share programs

  • Planning for regeneration prior to harvest

We often provide follow-ups to ensure proper forest practices are carried out.

Contact any of our offices with questions regarding your timberland, or find a consulting forester .
